Miami, FL — The highly anticipated International Netball Classics is set to deliver an electrifying showcase of world-class talent as two of the sport’s standout athletes, Gabi Simpson and Katie Walker, join this year’s prestigious lineup on April 4 – 6 at the Miramar Ampitheatre, Miramar, Florida.
Bringing together elite players from across the globe, the International Netball Classics continues to position itself as a premier platform for international competition, cultural exchange, and the growth of netball in emerging markets like the United States.
Global Talent Meets International Stage

Katie Walker, a former Queensland Firebirds player, transitioned seamlessly into coaching, building an impressive resume across the elite and high-performance pathway. She has served as Assistant Coach of the Queensland Firebirds, Head Coach of the Queensland Sapphires, Interim Firebirds Co-Head Coach and Future Firebirds Assistant Coach. She currently leads as the Sapphire Head Coach for the Carina Leagues Club Tigers playing in the HPNL, continuing to shape emerging talent within Queensland’s premier competition. Her contribution to netball and other sports has been formally recognised at multiple levels, including the 2019 introduction by Netball Queensland where it was announced that the annual Sapphire Series MVP would be awarded the Katie Walker Medal – a lasting tribute to her influence on the state’s premier competition.
Joining her is Gabi Simpson, a former captain and standout midcourt defender for the Queensland Firebirds and a respected international representative for Australia. Known for her speed, defensive intensity, and leadership, Simpson played over a decade with the Firebirds, helping secure back-to-back premierships in 2015 and 2016 and leading the team from 2017 to 2021. She has also earned more than 40 caps with the Australian Diamonds and was part of the 2018 Commonwealth Games silver medal team.
A Growing Platform for Netball in the U.S.
The International Netball Classics is more than a tournament—it is a movement to expand the visibility and accessibility of netball across North America and the Caribbean. By featuring internationally acclaimed athletes, the event creates meaningful pathways for youth engagement, athlete development, and cross-cultural connection.
“This year’s lineup reflects the caliber and global reach of the International Netball Classics,” Allister Roper, tournament organizer and visionary. “Welcoming athletes like Gabi Simpson and Katie Walker not only inspires the next generation but also strengthens Florida’s position as an emerging hub for international sport.”
